Can I manually send credit card info to Omise?

Last updated on October 21, 2021

Some clients may prefer to send their credit cards details directly by email or by phone. Will I be able to input their card details in Omise on their behalf to charge their card?

The short answer is no. According to Visa and Mastercard regulations, merchants should not be able to see or store the customer's credit card, even by email with the consent of the card holder or by a phone call. This could only be done if the merchant is PCI-DSS certified. Since credit card numbers are sent in plain text or stored in email and papers, it is not a secure practice and is not allowed by PCI-DSS regulations.

Rest assured that all transactions processed through our payment gateway are guaranteed to be safe and secure. We are PCI-DSS certified, meaning that every year we go through a rigorous process to ensure that card data is securely transmitted, processed and stored.
